Kipawa sato

Kipawa Sato is a weekly Performing Arts Event initiated by Alakie Mboya-Shangari Communications and GWI artistes Network is the force behind its presentation and implementation of Kipawa Sato.
Kipawa Sato is now the Talk of the Town having completed its 26th edition on 20th December running each Saturday for 6 months at the Kenya Cultural Centre. This was covered by Citizen TV and transmitted every week during the Citizen Extra Program.
Generally Kipawa Sato is an afternoon of cultural expose and fun. Audience participation is free of charge and so far 1000 artistes have registered and performed to a live audience over 800 patrons. Kipawa Sato has reached over 4 million viewers through Citizen TV.
GWI Artistes Network provided the sound system during 5 month before F. Brescia of Rhythm entertainment Ltd joining the initiative and providing his professional sound system.
GWI Artistes Network plans to extend Kipawa Sato to road shows, all across the country promoting artistes through education and bringing unity between communities.
Kipawa Sato is open to any artist/band who wants to showcase their talent like:
• Performing Artists in Music, Dance, Theatre
• Oral traditional recitals
• Comedy Skits
• Art Exhibitions
• Fashion Shows
GWI artistes network also offers music, dance and theatre workshops every Thursday and Friday after the auditions on wednesdays with experimented artists from Climate Change Orchestra our permanent Band and Others Production dance company.
These workshops are open to all participants to bring quality live artistic performances.
From 27th March 2009 Kipawa Sato intend to organize series of performances to different audiences across the city.We premiered extracts during the Kipawa sato Gala on 20th December 2008.
From the reaction we feel that pro-active involvement eg initiating a Campaign to the community in issues related to climate change and global warming is required urgently.
The performance can be viewed on the accompanying amateur DVD Please send us your postal address for mailing. We think that proper preparations and rehearsals will be necessary to develop it further and give the performance a distinctive Kenyan outfit with a global appeal towards the Campaign of Global Warming Climate change. We are also using this performance as a fund raising towards our years activities. So we will have it done in all art centres across Nairobi for instance the Goethe institute, alliance francaise, Godown arts centre, Sarakasi dome etc and also take it to the community to educate about enviromental issues. There will also performances from other artistes from the Global Warming Initiative GWI artistes network …
A tasteful event not to miss!!!
